The Amazing Ken Oliver

Some of you may have noticed that the incredible Ken Oliver from Spellbinders is on a bit of a tour of the UK at the moment and we are one of only 2 craft stores in Scotland that are on his itinerary.

Ken will be visiting us on Saturday 18th May - remember to call the shop to reserve your place on his workshop from 10am - 12 noon. Ken is going to show you how to make something very special and personal to you, so you'll need to take:
a basic crafting kit that includes scissors and liquid adhesive,
a vintage photo or other photo (colour copy is fine) that has significant personal meaning
any personal ephemera eg ticket stub, plane ticket, script from a greeting card or letter that is connected to the photo

Ken will supply papers, embellishments, findings, antique sari ribbon from Nepal, buttons and loads more for you to choose from as we create our personal collages.

And as Paula mentioned on Monday, I'm sharing some pics from Nikky's workshop on Sunday - everyone looks hard at work there...

The 5 stamps and paper pad are available to purchase EXCLUSIVELY at The Papeterie - the stamps are priced at £6.99 each and the matching paper pad is priced at £7.99.

It's Polka Doodle Time!

It's Demo Time!

Well, it was Saturday 11th May, and there were no more sleeps until Nikky Hall arrived at The Papeterie.

But Nikki did not come alone, Nikky brought with her some exclusive stamps to The Papeterie!  Let me introduce to you Maria, Morag, Bonnie, Ailsa and Tam, aren't they gorgeous??

Not only did Nikky take along these exclusive stamps, Nikky also brought with her lots of paper pads, including one pad exclusively designed to go with these exclusive stamps.  Our shelves were stocked with Nikky's printable CD's and more Studio 12 stamps.

Of course, no demo would be complete without lots of keen crafters, eager to pick up the skills and techniques Nikky uses to colour and blend with Promarkers and also how to use Pan Pastels, which was a product quite new to many!

As you can see, it was standing room only by the afternoon.

I have heard that Nikky may be returning to our store later this year, watch this space!

Come back later in the week when Debbi will be sharing some pictures from Nikky's workshop on Sunday!

Before I go, there is time to remind you that there are still some places available on Kath's Klub workshops on Saturday 18th May.  Call us on 01224 774883 to book your place, remember you will take home the stamp used in your workshop!

Also on Saturday we have the very talented Ken Oliver from Spellbinders arriving on our doorstep.  Ken Will be demoing and teaching a workshop featuring the brand new mixed media range from Spellbinders.  Don't miss out, give us a call for more information!

3 More sleepies

There's certainly excitement building up this week - just 3 more sleeps until the fabulous Nikky Hall arrives. We're thrilled that Nikky is coming all the way to Aberdeen to demo for all her Scottish fans - this is Nikky's ONLY Scottish appearance.
Nikky will be demoing her gorgeous stamps from 11am - 4pm on Saturday, and she is also hosting a colouring workshop on Sunday from 11-2pm. We have a few places remaining so please call the shop to secure your place on 01224 802337.
Here's a wee sneaky peek for you too, of the stunning new stamp range Nikky is launching exclusively with us on Saturday....

I've been busy teaching lately, last weekend I had 2 colour media workshops. The first one was basic colouring techniques with promarkers and flexmarkers where we coloured a selection of stamps so that my students got a feel for character stamps, animal stamps and floral stamps.....

Then in the afternoon we had our first Intro to water-based markers class where the students tried out a number of different techniques with Aquamarkers, Neon Markers and Metallic Markers...

We'll be updating the class page soon - so look out for some exciting new things coming very soon.

New Stock News!

Well, it's been a busy old week ... where to start?  Let's start with some of our deliveries this week!

It's been a bit like Christmas this week in the shop, lots of new stock arriving.  I thought I'd share with you what has been landing on our shelves this week:

We've had a delivery of Graphic 45, including 12"x12", 8"x8" and 6"x6" paper pads and die-cuts (see below) and check out this wonderful chest which has been covered in Graphic 45 papers!

Also look what landed from Spellbinders!  A selection of D-Lites dies priced at only £10.99!

From Docrafts Papermania, a huge selection of new stock including 'Ahoy There!' and Home To Nest.

Also from Docrafts, the biggest box of X Cut palm punches you've ever seen!  Here's just  a small selection of these fabulous punches, including squares, circles, hearts and flowers.

Lets not forget a delivery of Hero Arts stamps made their way to us also, here are some of these stamps about to be hitting the shelves!

I've got a bit of a sneak peak for you.  Charlotte has been working on a project for a forthcoming workshop, she has allowed me to let you have a wee sneak peak at it!

We are looking at dates for upcoming workshops, keep an eye out here for them!

This weekend proved to be every bit as busy!  Saturday in particular was extremely busy with wedding appointments where Charlotte met with 11 couples!  Also, Debbi had two workshops, which were both fully booked!

What a beautiful day Sunday was!  It was nice to see so many people come into the shop in short-sleeves rather than a thick jacket!  We had quite a few visitors travelling to the shop from outwith the Aberdeen area, it's lovely to see some new faces and also some people who make a regular trip to stock up on their craft supplies!  Speaking of stock ... as quickly as we were filling the shelves with Iced Silver paper and card stock, it was flying right off again!  If you haven't seen our stunning selection of Iced Silver, Iced Gold and White Gold, make sure you take a look next time you visit!  Look out for a gorgeous new colour which will be hitting the shelves in the future, perfect for weddings!

Don't forget, this Saturday and Sunday sees the arrival of Nikky Hall to The Papeterie.  Join us for a demonstration day on Saturday from 11 - 4pm and if you're quick, there are a handful of places left on Nikky's workshop on Sunday.  Give us a call on 01224802337 to snap up a place!

Wedding Friday (but not so wedding)

Hi all, im back again I thought I would steer away from weddings with my blog post today and show you some of our corporate invitations.

One of our favourite customers it has to be said every year is British Airways. It is our absolute priviledge to be apart of their annual charity ball in aid of flying start and comic relief.

Here are a two of the invitations we have done over the past couple of years with themes being Black Tie and Best of British. The theme for this year is going to be amazing and I have so many ideas running through my head all ready, and promise to share the finished invitations with you after the ball.

We also produce their table plans, name tags and programmes for this amazing event held each year at the Airport Thistle. The British Airways Aberdeen team raised over a staggering £16000 from this event last year, and hopefully they can raise even more this year!

Not only do we make their charity ball invitations

but we recently produced invitations for
 the CEO of British Airways
to invite people to the opening of their
brand new executive lounge in Glasgow airport.
The only request British Airways
had was that we use the lounge image

and make the invitation like a boarding pass.

They were so delighted with the results and the super quick turn around of 150 invitations that they gave us a beautiful bunch of flowers

What's been going on this weekend ...?

... well Saturday proved to be a very busy day for the staff, with lots going on in two different locations!

Our own Debbi Glenni was busy teaching at the Discovery Awards on behalf of The Papeterie at the Beach Ballroom.  Here's a sneaky peak of what her students were up to.   I'm sure Debbi will be sharing with you the finished projects later in the week!

Debbi wasn't the only one to be teaching on Saturday.  Our very own Charlotte Mitchell was teaching a much requested Bind-it-All class.  This class proved to be very popular, helping crafters address any problems they had using the machine and giving much inspiration for future projects!  The feedback was very positive, who knows, we may persuade Charlotte to run another Bind-it-All class in the future.

Here's one of our regular crafter's, makes from the day!  Thank you Tina for sharing your photos of your wonderful projects!

Wedding Friday

Hello all, im back again!

Today I'm going to use my post to show you some of the invitations we made at the DIY wedding class held a couple of weeks ago.
I do a DIY wedding class every few months.
The classes are great as they give brides the opportunity to learn how to go home and make their own wedding invitations.

The first invitation we made was a side opening wallet, great for anyone wanting to give their guests RSVP cards, menu choices or information about the wedding.

The second card is a 4 score line card a very effective design done with inspiration from the lady who invented the score board Kay Rutter.

The third card we made was a flat evening invitation. A very very simple card to make but effective never the less.
We then made a flat day invitation which was a brand new design I made just for the class.
Then we made a made a name tag and menu.

And the great thing was, that everyone who came to the class left feeling much more confident about making their own stationery. The other great thing about the DIY classes is that each person who attends is given an instruction card with all the card sizes and envelope sizes so that they know exactly what to do when they come to do it for themselves.
